Parivartan 2008 Etymology
The D day has come finally. After about 6 months of hard work done by the Parivartan team and the various volunteers, the Curtains will finally fall and the DMS, IIT Delhi B Fest will be flagged off. The event will finally be worth the wait.
So, what exactly is different about Parivartan? Who needs change? How is change brought about? And is change a journey? What exactly do we mean by the Celestial Odyssey? I will try to answer the following questions in a way that can be understood by all.
Little drops make an ocean. Single people Make a nation. Earning peanuts can make you rich. So what does change bring about? Yes, its a Revolution. A single collapse of the Berlin Wall removed all sorts of geographical barriers and sparked the fire of globalisation, and look where the world is now. So what the students of DMS are aiming at is to bring about a revolution of sorts, and this is done by planting the seeds of change in the minds of all who visit DMS during the next couple of days, who are the future of this nation.
The process of change is a continuous process.The Greek Philosopher Heraclitus espoused this fact in his now famous statement 'The only thing that is constant in this world is change'. This fact has been recognised by Management Gurus worldwide and Change Management is a subject in itself.
DMS sets really high standards across all its activities and that is the main reason we refer to this year's fest as the Celestial Odyssey. We set high goals, and do all that we can to attain those.
So, the story behind PARIVARTAN, in a few lines. 4 Hours to go!!!

Making Sense of Chaos
Business, especially in the Indian sense, has never been as dynamic as it is today. You can never sit back and track it, you need to be on your ties, always socks pulled up, to run with it and make sense of it, for it is probably the most dynamic growth phase for India Inc that we are in.
While such a scenario makes a great time for long articles, good tv shows and intellectual debates, there is one point we all need to address and that is sharpening our managerial acumen by peeping into morrow, and preparing ourselves to handle the future. All that we know is we are changing, but we are unsure where the change is leading except that it is leading to a better tomorrow. But how better the tomorrow is, what we need to justify it is something not many of us lose a night's sleep over. At IIT Delhi, we are always in an endeavor to prepare ourselves for tomorrow and to keep up with that philosophy, Department of Management Studies attempts every year to make sense of the latest business trends, especially to the students, and prepare for tomorrow.
Carrying upon the same trend, Parivartan 2008 comes up with the theme of BizzBang, drawing parallels between the life of a star and the Indian Business world, for our nation is no less a star than the brightest one in the sky when we speak Business today. Acquisitions worldwide, partnerships with the best-in-class, confidence that could intimidate the global bigwigs, innovation unparalleled, these are just a few facets of India Inc that have been revealed. What lies beneath, and what shall open up tomorrow is something unforeseen, and that is what we try to prepare all of us for at Parivartan 2008.
The best thing to do in present is to peep into the past, understand the roots and then prepare for the great future ahead. That is what we shall do at Parivartan. While we introspect, at both student and corporate level as to what has happened in the Indian Business arena over decades and what made us what we are today, we shall also, through dignitaries from vast areas of corporate world through their anecdotes and experiences learn how to be prepared for handling future our way.
Parivartan 2008 is not just a festival, but an enriching and enlivening experience. Come, be a part of it! We are sure you would undergo a change in the way you look at things. Come, lets be future ready and take our star to the right destination.

Parivartan:Bringing about Change
Hello Everyone,
It is a busy time for us at DMS now,with Parivartan about two weeks away.What does Parivartan have for you,the aspiring Bschooler?
Parivartan as the name suggests is about change.Nothing is constant;perhaps the only constant thing is change.....and it is around this change that our lives and ambitions revolve.For Calvin and Hobbes Fans,to quote Calvin"Its pretty weird really.....for a long time nothing seems to happen and then suddenly you realize that everything has changed".
Look at the Indian Economy,the markets,the sensex which has held us fascinated through it's choppy ride...the growth of technology and science........emergence of new business domains......
......India being acknowledged on an international scale.We need to consider ourselves extermely lucky-to be born in an information age where there is so much happening.
So where do we fit in ,in the bigger picture?Let us introspect for a minute....the reason why we embarked on the MBA journey;Why is it that we put burn midnight oil day in and day out and cram ourselves with almost every piece of knowledge available?It is perhaps the urge in each one of us to achieve something big and better,to excel in one's domain,to be hailed as the knowledge expert in on's field.....arent these some of the things we have always strived to be ?
So how do we achieve this goal?We need a platform...an avenue where we can let our ideas take shape,where our creativity can form wings and fly across the limitless boundaries of the sky.
We at DMS call this platform Parivartan........

The Making of Captain Bizznaut!
Captain Bizznaut.. The official mascot for Parivartan 2008 is a young budding manager , someone like you and me, who will accompany us throughout this odyssey. He represents the true Indian youth who is full of energy and works towards achieving his goals. For more gyan on the mascot, log on to http://www.dms-parivartan08.com/
Hold on..
This is not what I want to talk about. It has been very well explained in our website. What interests me more is to share the experience of how he came into being. The making of Captain Bizznaut... The efforts began right from the time Parivartan team came into action in the month of October last year. The buzz word of business these days "INNOVATE" creeped into our brains also. The idea was to move a step ahead and bring innovation in Parivartan. And thus a mascot was born.. Parivartan 2008's official mascot.. Captain Bizznaut!!
Well.. the journey has been very interesting throughout. The creative team at Parivartan 2008 came up with several mascot samples- some rock star aliens, some robots, dancing cartoons... The team infact finalised one space scientist cartoon and we were working on how to improve it further. Numerous team discussions in the lounge, many approval seeking emails for the team, kabhi haan kabhi naa and what not! Then in the middle of this chaos, an idea strikes.. And that idea was of a cartoon character looking forward to start a journey.. Our precise requirement indeed!
Next began the herculean task of grooming the cartoon- with moustache, without moustache, the glass of his space suit should be a shade lighter.. nai??!! Iske kapde thode colourful karte hain..!! Lucky guy yaar.. so many people wanted to work for his grooming!! Now as the character became ready, he needed a name. In the midst of classes, we will open our laptops and jog our brains not to find the solution to the problem that the professor has given but to find a suitable name for everyone's favourite now.. the mascot! The name "Captain Bizznaut" was the prompt suggestion from one of the team members and after numerous discussions, the name was retained.
Abhi kahani khatam nahi hui.. climax abhi baki hai! :P Now was the time to seek approval from the faculty.. It is not easy my dear.. A cartoon? Does it relate to our theme? Show me the write up! Has it been done before? Censor Censor..!!
And now... Captain Bizznaut is ready to begin.. the journey.. the celestial odyssey!! Come on come all..!! This february, 15th is the date.. lets begin to explore the unexplored like never before.. Parivartan is coming!
